Caregiver Support therapist in Wakefield, MA

You don’t know how much longer you can go on like this and yet there is no way to stop. You worry you might be at a breaking point but you can’t break because someone is counting on you. You do it with love but the day-in and day-out feels endless. You realize that caregiving is running your life and it is unsustainable, but it feels like there is no alternative except for your loved one to suffer without you.

You are Ready for Relief

You feel incredibly lonely because you know that so many of your thoughts and feelings are seriously taboo. You miss the person you were before you became a caregiver, the relationship you had with your loved one and the simplicity inherent in the pre-caregiving days. You worry there isn’t anything you can do but keep your head down in the day-to-day because the future looks so uncertain it’s terrifying.

My Name is Michelle, I am a Therapist and I can Help you Feel Less Alone

I work with individuals who have found themselves in caregiving roles and/or grieving the loss of loved ones, not only from death, but from severe mental health issues and other challenges that shake their expectations. Personally, I was the caregiver for a loved one and felt the satisfaction of the deep act of love that is inherent in caregiving, as well as the daily toll it takes on the rest of life. Finding others to connect with during those years was critical and I am committed to providing that comfort and hope to others in similar circumstances.

Through therapy, we will explore what your values are, learn ways of connecting to them, identify barriers to obtaining respite and develop a plan to have caregiving feel more sustainable and satisfying. You will feel less alone, feel understood and figure out how to reclaim your identity even in the midst of long-term caregiving. Together, we will explore the aspects of your identity that feel lost and we will find ways to bring them back in a harmonious way with caregiving. You will experience greater satisfaction in caregiving and a greater sense of connectedness with yourself and the rest of your life, even amidst the inherent strains of caregiving.
